Kaluga-based PSMA Rus plant resumes assembling Peugeot and Citroen cars
PSMA Rus operating in Kaluga Region since 2010 is the joint venture of Mitsubishi Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen
KALUGA, August 17. /TASS/. The PSMA Rus plant in Russia’s Kaluga region resumed the assembly of Peugeot and Citroen cars after a nearly four-month break, the plant’s press service told TASS on Monday. The plant halted production on April 27.
PSMA Rus plans to increase production localization on the sedan line from 35 to 50% by 2017, thus reducing operating and logistical expenses, the press service said. The plant is ready to increase production of cars as soon as the situation on the market is favorable, the press service added.
Regional authorities predict changes in the situation with Kaluga automobile cluster. "Kaluga Region is steadily growing in economic terms, and the automobile cluster was the only one dropped, since car sales fell by nearly 50%. The decline ended by now and we will see small yet growth by 2015 year-end," First Deputy Governor of the region Alexei Laptev told TASS.
PSMA Rus operating in Kaluga Region since 2010 is the joint venture of Mitsubishi Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen. The plant’s annual production capacity is 125,000 cars. The plant produces Mitsubishi Outlander 2016, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Citroen C4, and Peugeot 408.
