Damage caused by drought in Russia totals $112 mln — PM
Spending on the agriculture sector support in the budget of 2016 will stay on the same level as this year
SOCHI, August 3. /TASS/. The damage caused by the drought in Russia totaled 7 bln rubles ($112 mln), Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
He made this statement during a phone conference discussing the ongoing harvest work in the country.
"The preliminary damage is estimated at more than 7 bln rubles, which first of all concerns the Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Orenburg and Irkutsk regions, the Zabaikalye territory, the republics of Tyva, Buryatia and Kalmykia," - he said.
Russia's agriculture spending to stay the same in 2016
According to the prime minister, the Russian government will maintain spending on agriculture sector support in the budget of 2016 on the same level as this year, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
He made this statement during a phone conference discussing the ongoing harvest work in the country.
"Although the budget is very complicated, it implies preservation of the earlier required volume of financing," - Medvedev said.
Russia’s harvest outlook confirmed at 100 mln tonnes
As for the harvest outlook in Russia Medvedev said that it has been confirmed at the level of 100 mln tonnes.
"We expect figures will not be bad. We may harvest about 100 mln tonnes that is a fairly good result," the prime minister said.
