EU to transfer first €600 million tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine — envoy
According to the EU Ambassador to Kiev Jan Tombinski, the EU will continue providing technical and advisory assistance to Ukraine on its way to reforms
KIEV, July 21. /TASS/. The European Union will transfer its first €600 million tranche to Ukraine on July 22 out of the EU’s macro-finance assistance package worth €1.8 billion agreed two months ago, EU Ambassador to Kiev Jan Tombinski said on Tuesday.
"Tomorrow [on July 22], the European Union will give out the first tranche of macro-finance assistance to Ukraine," the EU envoy said.
The EU will continue providing technical and advisory assistance to Ukraine on its way to reforms, he added.
The Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, passed a law on June 18 on ratifying the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between Ukraine as the borrower and the European Union as the creditor and the Loan Agreement between Ukraine as the borrower, the Ukrainian National Bank as the borrower’s financial agent and the European Union as the creditor on the EU’s financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €1.8 billion.
