New Boeing 787 Dreamliner deliveries to Russian air company may be postponed — source
The situation in the Russian economy complicates supplying of foreign aircraft to Russian airlines
PARIS, June 16. /TASS/. Deliveries of 22 new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Russia's Aeroflot could be postponed again, a source close to Aeroflot Board of Directors said Tuesday at the Paris Air Show 2015.
"The company’s Board of Directors still has the final say," he said. In the conversation with TASS the source did not rule out a complete cancellation of the contract for the Dreamliner supplies.
However, Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Savelyev told journalists "the aircraft were not delivered in time, so we are currently discussing the situation with Boeing."
Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Ray Conner said "the situation in the Russian economy complicates supplying of foreign aircraft to Russian airlines." However, he neither confirmed nor denied the Aeroflot possibly cancelling the contract for the Boeing 787 delivery, noting that negotiations are continuing. Boeing would be able to find other potential aircraft buyers because deliveries are painted until 2019, Conner said.
Aeroflot has ordered 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2007. Supplies were initially supposed to begin in 2014, but the date was shifted to 2016.
