STRBSKE PLESO (Slovakia), January 27. /TASS/. The International University Sports Federation (FISU) is sure that the global financial crisis will not prevent Russia from preparing for hosting the Winter Universiade-2019 in Krasnoyarsk, the largest city in Eastern Siberia.

FISU First Vice-President Oleg Matytsin, who is also the president of the Russian Student Sports Union, said on Tuesday despite the economic and political difficulties, Russia’s financial and organizing guarantees have been confirmed.

The schedule remains unchanged for the preparations for the Winter Universiade, the biggest global winter multi-sports event for student-athletes, the FISU official said.

The representatives of the Universiade-2019 organizing committee are currently in Slovakia, which hosts this year’s sports event, involving more than 2,500 participants from more than 50 countries.

Matytsin said they have come to adopt experience of holding ski sports and biathlon competitions.

Russia’s Krasnoyarsk is scheduled to hold the Winter Universiade on March 2-12, 2019.
