KAZAN, December 3. /TASS/. The Ukrainian manufacturer Motor Sich continues delivery of engines to Russia's Kazan Helicopter Plant (KHP) on schedule, KHP Director General Vadim Ligai told TASS on Wednesday.

“We signed a long-term contract with Motor Sich and the deliveries are made on schedule,” Ligai said. Motor Sich earlier stopped deliveries of small gas-turbine engines for cruise missiles to Russia.

According to the KHP head, the Kazan enterprise produces about 100 helicopters a year and the Ukrainian side supplies almost half of the needed engines. By 2017 the plant plans to fully switch to the purchase of engines from Russia’s OAO Klimov.

“In 1 - 2 years we will fully switch to the engine supplies from OAO Klimov under the import substitution programme,” Ligai said.

The Kazan Helicopter Plans manufactures civilian and military helicopters Mil Mi-8 and Mi-17, as well as the light helicopter Ansat. In 2015 the plant will launch series production of a new transport passenger helicopter - Mi-38.

The Ukrainian corporation Motor Sich supplies to Russia helicopter, airplane and rocket engines. Under the 2011 contract with the Russian Helicopters holding worth $1.5 billion, Motor Sich is to supply to Russia 250 - 270 engines per year until 2016. They are used in most Russian combat and transport helicopters.
