According to Kyrgyz Prime Minister Dzhoomart Otorbayev, a broad public discussion should be held on the draft treaty

BISHKEK, November 12. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan should complete the procedures for joining the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) and the Eurasian Economic Union till the end of December, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Dzhoomart Otorbayev said on Wednesday.

“It is necessary to qualitatively go through all documents. We can’t admit any contradictions with the republic’s existing legislation. All procedures should be observed. A broad public discussion should be held on the draft treaty,” Otorbayev said at a government session.

Kyrgyzstan took a decision to join the Customs Union in the spring of 2011. In May the parties concerned approved a “roadmap” on the republic’s joining of the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. In compliance with the agreements Kyrgyzstan should join the organisations till the yearend. Corresponding documents are scheduled to be signed in Moscow on December 23.

The Treaty on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union was signed by the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on May 29, 2014 in Astana.

The agreement is the basic document defining the accords between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan for creating the Eurasian Economic Union for the free movement of goods, services, capital and workforce and conducting coordinated policies in key sectors of the economy, such as energy, industry, agriculture and transport.

The EEU members are currently Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia. Kyrgyzstan is expected to join the union soon.
