Flight tests of the plane with a cruising range of 12,000 kilometers and capacity of up to 300 passengers are to be launched in 2020

ZHUHAI (China), November 11. /TASS/. The Russian-Chinese wide-body jet will appear on the market within 9-10 years, President of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of Russia Mikhail Pogosyan said on Tuesday.

“We intend to elaborate this project and economic issues related to its implementation soon. Within the next 9-10 years this program should enter the market,” Pogosyan said at the Airshow China 2014 International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition.

According to him, the flight tests of the plane with a cruising range of 12,000 kilometers and capacity of up to 300 passengers are to be launched in early 2020.

Pogosyan said while the jumbo jet’s front end engineering design is underway, the potential suppliers in the co-operation system for its creation are being determined.

“We have already defined the main requirements for the plane,” the UAC head said.

Russian Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Yuri Slyusar said the Russian-Chinese plane may be brought to the market by 2025. “We plan to bring the plane to the market by 2025. It will perform the first flight on schedule in 2021-22, if I remember correctly,” the deputy minister said.

According to him, the project has already entered the practical implementation stage, getting support both from Moscow and Beijing. “In May next year we are transferring to the next important stage - detailed design. We will show the results of this project,” Slyusar said. He added that that stage would demonstrate the plane’s economic and technical advantages.

The new airliner should be demanded not only on the Russian and Chinese markets. “This project is inexpedient for the market of one country, even such a large country as China,” he said.
