TOKYO, November 10. /TASS/. The Russian and Japanese leaders had a good meeting on Sunday in Beijing, where they openly exchanged views, the Japanese cabinet's chief secretary Yoshihide Suga told a press conference on Monday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had talks in the Chinese capital on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

It was a good meeting to have an open exchange of views based on personal relations of trust, the Japanese official said.

Russia and Japan continue discussing resumption of consultations between deputy foreign ministers and a visit by Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida to Moscow.

The Japanese and Russian leaders exchanged views on a wide range of issues — a peace treaty and cooperation in all areas, including economy, culture, security and international problems.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe seeks to put an end to the cooling of relations with Russia over Ukraine.

Japan faces a delicate balancing act in dealing with the United States, its key ally, and Russia, as Washington is trying to isolate Russia for its actions in the Ukraine crisis, Kyodo news agency said on Monday.
