MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Development of economic cooperation between Russia and China will be high on the agenda in talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing on November 9, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on Friday, adding that the two leaders were expected to sign a package of almost 20 bilateral agreements.

“A large set of documents - 17 agreements - have been prepared for signing,” Ushakov said, without ruling out the details of the deals.

“The central topic on the agenda is economic cooperation,” he said, adding that trade between the two countries increased by 1.6% to $88.8 billion last year and continued to grow this year (by 7% over the past nine months). He stressed that under current circumstances it was possible to reach the target of $100 billion by 2015 and $200 by 2020.

Ushakov said the presidents were expected to address issues of energy, “a key sphere of bilateral relations”.

“There are also plans to exchange views on current issues of the global and regional agenda,” he said. “Russia and China have similar or the same approaches to major international issues, including Syria's problems, Iran's nuclear programme and the situation on the Korean peninsula,” he added.
