Russia receives no notice of EU complaint to WTO — official

The European Union on Friday brought a complaint against Russia at the WTO challenging import tariffs that Moscow places on a range of goods

MOSCOW, October 31. /TASS/. Russia has received no notice of a European Union complaint with the World Trade Organization over its import duties on some manufacturing and agricultural goods, the country's chief WTO negotiator Maxim Medvedkov said on Friday.

The Russian side will consider the complaint after receiving it, Medvedkov said, adding that it would probably take place next week after the country’s November 4 National Unity Day holiday.

The European Union on Friday brought a complaint against Russia at the WTO challenging import tariffs that Moscow places on a range of goods, the WTO was reported as saying.

The complaint singles out paper and paperboard, palm oil and its fractions, refrigerators and combined refrigerators-freezers, it said, adding that Russia had 60 days to settle the issue in direct talks with the EU.

This is the latest in a series of EU complaints lodged since Russia joined the WTO in 2012. Russia has brought two cases against the EU.
