SOCHI, October 24 /TASS/. Russia believes that regional integration associations should be transparent and favors the development of a dialogue between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the European Union, Russian President Vladimir Putin told a plenary session of the Valdai international discussion club on Friday.

“The work of integration associations and interaction of regional structures should be based on a transparent and clear foundation,” Putin said.

“The formation of the Eurasian Economic Union is a good example of this openness,” Putin said, noting that the states participating in this project had informed their partners in advance of the association’s plans and parameters and the principles of its work that comply with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

“We would also welcome the start of a meaningful dialogue between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. For some unclear reasons, we have been denied this opportunity so far,” Putin added.

The Russian president also called for forming a common space of economic and humanitarian cooperation from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.
