Russia expects new Superjet 100 airliner supplies to Indonesia — ministry
The Indonesian market’s potential is estimated at 12-20 Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliners until 2020, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov says
JAKARTA, October 20. /TASS/. Russia expects new contracts to be signed with Indonesia on the supply of Sukhoi Superjet 100 medium-haul passenger airliners, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said on Monday.
Indonesia’s Sky Aviation airline, which has already received three Russian airliners, “is not in a very good financial position today,” the minister said, adding a total of 12 airliners were planned for delivery to the Indonesian air company.
“We expect that other companies from Indonesia will also show interest in buying passenger planes for operational or financial lease,” the minister said.
The Indonesian market’s potential is estimated at 12-20 Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliners until 2020, Manturov said, adding the ministry expected a larger number of contracts to be signed with Indonesian firms on the purchase of passenger planes.
Russia’s industry and trade minister earlier said Russia was offering Indonesia to produce components for the MS-21 short- and medium-haul passenger plane developed jointly by the Yakovlev design bureau and the Irkut aviation corporation.
“We are proposing that the Indonesian industry’s potential should be used for the production of components for the MS-21 plane. And we naturally count on the delivery of these planes to Indonesia in the future,” Manturov said, without specifying which components he meant.
