Russian Railways raises investments in East Siberia by 40% in 2014

IRKUTSK, September 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Railways has increased investments into the infrastructure of the East Siberian Railway by 40% to 29.5 billion rubles in 2014, with half of the sum being allocated to boost capacities of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian Railway (Transsib), the railway said in a statement Friday.

“At present, works on laying the second lines are being done at four runs,” the statement said, adding that two passing sidings are being constructed and two are being prepared for the launch, while all the railways will be launched in 2015 and 20 others are being designed now.
