Russian companies invited to develop world’s second largest shale field in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, September 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Argentine authorities have invited Russia’s Gazprom, Rosneft, Gazprom Neft and Lukoil to participate in development of the Vaca Muerta shale field, the second world’s largest field containing non-traditional fuel reserves, Yamil Quispe, senior coordinator of the presidential administration, told PRIME Monday.
Russian delegation consisting of representatives of the invited companies and government officials will visit Argentina on October 1-10 to hold a preliminary meeting before the negotiations, he said.
Argentina is also interested in cooperation with Russia’s InterRAO and Gazprombank for construction of a hydropower plant with the investments standing at US $1.8 billion.
