Official: EU does not confirm September 22 gas trilateral meeting date
On Tuesday, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that the Russia-Ukraine-EU meeting will be held on September 22
BRUSSELS, September 17. /ITAR-TASS/. The European Commission does not confirm the information that the next trilateral meeting between Moscow, Kiev, and Brussels to discuss gas issues has been definitely scheduled for September 22, spokeswoman for energy commissioner Marlene Holzner said Wednesday.
September 22 is considered only one of several possible dates to hold the meeting, she said.
A representative for Russia’s Energy Ministry said that another possible date of the meeting is September 27 but Moscow proposes to hold the talks earlier. “Each day matters these days, we propose holding the meeting in the beginning of the week (starting from September 22),” the representative said.
On Tuesday, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that the Russia-Ukraine-EU meeting will be held on September 22.
Gas trilateral talks were suspended in June after Russia and Ukraine failed to agree on repayment of a $5.3 billion debt and gas prices. On June 16, Russia’s Gazprom switched Ukraine off gas supplies.
