Latest US, EU sanctions abuse WTO rules, just as previous ones - economics minister
“I believe that even the previous package of sanctions was a reason enough to appeal to the WTO," Economic Development Minister Aleksey Ulyukayev said
BRUSSELS, September 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Economic Development Ministry believes that the latest sanctions the United States and the European Union have taken against Russia over Ukraine contradict the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) as the previous ones.
“I believe that even the previous package of sanctions was a reason enough to appeal to the WTO and we shall appeal to it. But we shall do that without any haste. We shall formulate our requests most carefully and provide the maximum arguments,” Economic Development Minister Aleksey Ulyukayev told the media on Friday.
Earlier, Russian presidential press-secretary Dmitry Peskov said that “Russia as a WTO member would make use of any opportunity that there exist within the framework of that organization to dispute (foreign sanctions), to defend its stance and to explain its actions.
