EU to study possible disruptions of Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine
The European Commission will present an analysis of the reliability of gas supplies to Europe
BERLIN, September 11. /ITAR-TASS/. The European Commission will carefully study the consequences of possible disruptions in Russian natural gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine, EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger said on Thursday.
The European Commission will present an analysis of the reliability of gas supplies to Europe, Oettinger said in his video address to the 9th German energy forum that had opened in Munich.
The results of the analysis, including the worst-case scenario, will be presented next week, the EU energy commissioner said.
The analysis will help answer a question about what to do if Ukraine is unable or does not want to carry out gas deliveries (transit), Oettinger said.
The European Union urgently needs to elaborate a strategy for a period between October 1 and April 1, Oettinger said, adding the EU also needed a medium-term strategy.
