Russia not to use energy policy as pressure tool — EU energy commissioner
He added that “the possibility of sending gas from the EU states to Ukraine should also exist, if need be”
BERLIN, August 26. /ITAR-TASS/. EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger said on Tuesday he did not think that Moscow was going to use its energy policy as a pressure tool.
Oettinger, who on Tuesday will attend a meeting of the Customs Union (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia) member states with the Ukrainian president in Minsk, said in an interview published by the Bild newspaper he did not think that Russia “intends to turn the energy resource supplies into its policy tool.” He added that “the possibility of sending gas from the EU states to Ukraine should also exist, if need be.”
Natural gas storage facilities in Ukraine are only half filled, the EU energy commissioner said. According to him, this situation should be mended before the onset of winter.
