8 Russian military corporations on list of largest world defense companies

U.S. weekly Defense News has traditionally made public the top 100 list

WASHINGTON, August 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Eight Russian military concerns were put on the list of top 100 military companies in the world made public on Monday.

U.S. weekly Defense News has traditionally made public the top 100 list.

Higher than other Russian structures on the list, air defense system-producing concern Almaz-Antey which came under effect of U.S. sanctions went up from the 14th position in the previous year to the 12th place. Its revenues from defense-related activities exceeded $8.3 billion in 2013, the American weekly said.

Helicopters of Russia is ranked at the 25th place, one position lower than in the previous year. Its “defense” revenues are estimated at $3.4 billion in 2013.

United Engine-Building Corporation with revenues of more than $2.6 billion has made the largest leap from the 49th place to the 34th position on the Defense News list. Aircraft-building holding Sukhoi takes the 46th place, going three positions down on 2013. Its “defense” revenues are estimated at around $2.12 billion in 2013.

Meanwhile, concern Radioelectronic Technologies (52nd place) — “a novice” on this list, aircraft-building corporation Irkut (56th place), aircraft-building corporation MiG (71st place) and leading radar system world producer RTI Systems are also among Russian companies on the top 100.

The trio of leaders on the ranking list did not change as compared with the previous year. Despite “defense” revenues declined by 9.8% down to $40.49 billion, U.S. aircraft-building giant Lockheed Martin retained the top place. U.S. aerospace giant Boeing follows the leader with $32 billion and British major defense, security and aerospace company BAE Systems is ranked third with $28 billion.
