MOSCOW, August 01./ITAR-TASS/.Economic and legal experts may be convened by Russia and Georgia to chart consequences for trade relations of a planned association agreement between Georgia and the European Union.

The impact on a bilateral 1994 free-trade deal is now an agenda item, ministerial representatives from the two countries agreed in telephone talks on Friday.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and the Georgian prime minister's special envoy Zurab Abashidze agreed that experts from both countries may be asked to assemble to assess the legal and practical implications of closer relations between the European community and Russia's neighbor.

Karasin and Abashidze also discussed some current issues of cooperation, including planned resumption of regular air service and development of contacts between scientists of the two countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
