MOSCOW, July 24. /ITAR-TASS/. A number of WTO member states supported Russia’s stance in relation to the US anti-Russian sanctions, Russian Ministry of Economic Development said on Thursday.

The statement did not specify which countries backed Russia.

“At the WTO General Council meeting the Russian delegation expressed its serious concerns about the continuing violation by the US and some other members of the World Trade Organization of their liabilities,” the Ministry said.

The US prohibitive measures against some Russian legal entities contravened a number of provisions of the General Agreement of Trade in Services as well as General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, the Ministry added.

“We get the impression that the US purposely make us resort to the WTO judicial dispute settlement mechanisms, which in this particular case can have extremely negative consequences for the multilateral trade system as a whole,” goes the statement.
