OHRID (Macedonia), July 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Macedonia’s President Gjorge Ivanov supports the implementation of the South Stream project.

“In the long run, Macedonia needs stable sources of power and so the Republic of Macedonia, like other countries in the region, stands for additional gas supplies as an ecologically clean power resource,” Ivanov said in an exclusive interview with ITAR-TASS on Friday.

“That was the reason behind Macedonia’s opting for this project in order to benefit from it, including supplies of additional gas volumes,” he said.

“Certainly, it is a good project for our business community that needs a cheap energy resource,” the president said. “They [businesspeople] can realise their big projects if they are certain about the source of energy.”

Ivanov said that “the matter of top priority for us is stability in the coming decades.”

The full version of the exclusive interview with Macedonia’s president will be on air of the Formula of Power programme on the Rossiya-24 channel and will be published in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily.
