UNITED NATIONS, July 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Vietnam hopes that trade turnover with Russia will increase by 2.5 times and reach $10 billion by 2020, Vietnamese permanent representative to the UN Le Hoai Trung said.

“At present, trade turnover amounts to about $4 billion. We hope that it will reach $7 billion by 2015 and $10 billion by 2020. Russia’s business has invested about $1 billion in the Vietnamese economy,” the Vietnamese ambassador said.

Vietnam considers Russia a strategic partner in all fields. Nuclear power engineering is the priority area for cooperation between the two countries, he said.

By 2030 Vietnam is planning to build five nuclear power plants. Two nuclear power plants will be built with Russia’s participation. The first nuclear power plant will be constructed in the central coastal province of Ninh Thuan. It is planning to be commissioned by 2020, Le Hoai Trung said.

Vietnam and Russia continue cooperation in creating a nuclear science and technology centre in Hanoi. “It will train specialists for the work at nuclear power plants,” he said.
