Russia plans to sign Yak-130 aircraft supply contracts by 2017
Russia is also planning to take part in a tender for multi-purpose fighters for Malaysian air forces with the improved fighter Su-30MKM
MOSCOW, July 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian defense export intermediary agency, Rosoboronexport, plans to sign several agreements for supplies of jet training/light attack aircraft Yak-130 to foreign partners over the following two or three years, head of Rosoboronexport department on exports of special property and services, Sergey Kornev, told journalists ahead of Farnborough airshow opening in Britain.
Yak-130 promotion to export markets was enabled by active production and use of the aircraft, Kornev said adding emergence of the new aerobatic display team, Wings of Taurida, would help increase foreign demand for the aircraft.
“The active marketing campaign is underway, and many countries’ air forces express great interest. Foreign pilots occasionally take place in demo flights on Yak-130, and the aircraft is always highly estimated by professionals,” Kornev said.
The aircraft’s appeal for foreign customers was not only in its potential for pilot training and retraining but also its capabilities as a light attack aircraft, the official added.
Russia is also planning to take part in a tender for multi-purpose fighters for Malaysian air forces with the improved fighter Su-30MKM. The Malaysian defense ministry’s plans to announce the tender for supply of 1-2 squadrons of multi-purpose fighters were reported as early as April by Rosoboronexport director for special commissions Nikolay Dimidyuk.
