Events in southeast leave Ukraine’s budget without $213 mln in June
KIEV, July 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s Ministry of Revenue and Duties collected 75.8 billion hryvnia (6.4 billion U.S. dollars) in the first six months of 2014 and this is one percent less than planned, Chairman of the State Fiscal Service Igor Belous told reporters on Thursday
June was the most problematic month in fulfilling the financial targets since the ministry secured 22.3 billion hryvnia (1.9 billion U.S. dollars) marking a 3.3-percent drop against the same period of 2013, he said.
Along with this, revenues from the value-added tax reached 14 billion hryvnia (1.19 billion U.S. dollars) decreasing by 30% against a planned index while the income tax revenues brought 2.18 billion hryvnia (186.3 million U.S. dollars), down 9.8% against last June.
“All in all we have accomplished the tasks vested in us by the Finance Ministry at 99%,” Belous said.
At the same time, the militia actions in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions wielded a negative impact on the economic activity there. If in May financial losses came up to 420 million hryvnia (35.9 million U.S. dollars), in June the figure surged to 630 million hryvnia (53.8 million U.S. dollars).
The budget failed to receive 2.5 billion hryvnia (213 million U.S. dollars) due to the events in the country’s east and south, according to the service’s data.
