Russian companies lose thousands of dollars with each cyberattack
The research by Kaspersky Lab has shown that almost all companies face threats from the outside at least once a year
MOSCOW, July 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian small and medium businesses lose the average of 780,000 rubles, or $22,674, with each cyberattack, shows the research by Kaspersky Lab conducted in cooperation with the international agency B2B International.
“We see the increasing rate of cybercrime against companies. While several years ago wrongdoers hit at random in the hope for accidental success, they now launch more precise attacks,” says the laboratory’s experts.
The research has shown that almost all companies face threats from the outside at least once a year. Top five threats are virus attacks and malware faced by 75% of the companies polled, vulnerable software (44%), accidental leaks caused by human error (28%) and web attacks (22%).
Hackers often get access to companies’ internal data - the details of business processes and e-mail. Almost a third of the respondents said they had their customers’ information stolen. The companies also lose money because of ensuing downtime, lost profits and expenses for additional IT services.
