Russia’s gold production rises 29% in January-May

MOSCOW, July 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s gold production, including gold concentrates, increased by 29.2% on the year to 86.671 tonnes in January-May, Sergei Kashuba, chairman of the country’s Gold Producers Union, said Tuesday citing preliminary data.

Gold bar production from mined gold increased 21% to 65.02 tonnes, gold bar output from by-product gold increased 0.7% to 7 tonnes and from scrap gold more than doubled on the year to 11.836 tonnes from 5.118 tonnes.

Gold concentrate production more than doubled on the year 2.815 tonnes in the period from 1.289 tonnes in January-May 2013.
