Naftogaz did not make payments, because the company disagreed with the gas price set by Russian energy giant Gazprom

NEW YORK, July 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian state-run oil and gas company Naftogaz did not pay for gas supplies in first 15 days of June, though the company should have done it no later than on July 7, business news agency Bloomberg reported. Naftogaz did not make payments, because the company disagreed with the gas price set by Russian energy giant Gazprom, official of the Ukrainian company Alena Osmolovskaya said by phone.

Gazprom may forward a bill of around $830 million to Naftogaz for June supplies and Ukraine’s overall debt may exceed $5.3 billion with due account of the cost of June gas supplies and current Gazprom price which Naftogaz did not agree on, according to Bloomberg calculations based on the data of the central controlling directorate of the fuel and energy sector at the Energy Ministry and Russian gas exporting monopoly.

Gazprom official Igor Volobuyev refrained from any comments.

Gazprom has transferred Naftogaz on advance payments for gas supplies under effective contract from 10am Moscow time (7am BST) on June 16.
