Russia’s, Iran’s nuclear oversight agencies sign cooperation protocol

MOSCOW, July 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s and Iran’s nuclear oversight agencies have signed a protocol regulating their future cooperation, the press service of the Russian Federal Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Control Service (Rostekhnadzor) said on Friday.

The document was agreed at a meeting between Rostekhnadzor chief Alexei Aleshin and head of Iran’s Nuclear Safety System Naser Rastkhah.

“Heads of Russia’s and Iran’s nuclear oversight agencies exchanged information about the state of affairs in the area of regulating nuclear and radiation safety in the two countries, drew preliminary results of cooperation between their agencies and discusses prospects for further cooperation,” the press service said. “The sides signed a protocol outlining general areas of further cooperation between the two agencies.”

The visiting Iranian delegation also held consultations on extending the contract for consultancy services in the operation of the Bushehr nuclear plant.
