MOSCOW, July 03./ITAR-TASS/. The situation in Ukraine has not influenced trade relations between Transdniestria, Moldova’s breakaway region, and world countries, the republic’s president, Yevgeny Shevchuk has said.

“The situation in Ukraine had no impact on the republic’s import. We hope that nothing changes,” Shevchuk told a news conference on Thursday.

The Ukrainian authorities imposed restrictions on the movement of certain categories of persons to Transdniestria via Ukraine. “Till now we’ve not found out the reasons,” he said.

Shevchuk said Transdniestria voiced concern over prospects for reliable Russian gas supplies to the republic via Ukraine. “We want Russia and Ukraine to improve relations as soon as possible for making gas supplies stable,” he said.
