Iraq receives Russian attack aircraft

Five Russian-made aircraft were supplied on Tuesday, in addition to five planes received by the Iraqi side on Sunday

AL KUWAIT, July 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Sukhoi Su-25 (NATO reporting name: Frogfoot) attack aircraft have made the first flights in the sky above the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a media adviser of the Iraqi Defense Ministry, Mohammed al-Askari, said Tuesday.

Al-Askari said that five Russian-made aircraft were supplied on Tuesday, in addition to five planes received by the Iraqi side on Sunday, according to the Iraqi Defense Ministry.

Russian ambassador to Iraq Ilya Morgunov told ITAR-TASS on Tuesday that deliveries of Russian aircraft to Iraq are carried out under earlier signed contracts. The deliveries are to be completed by the end of summer.
