Russia’s Stroytransgaz in $264 million deal to irrigate Syria

MOSCOW, July 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian construction company Stroytransgaz has signed a $264 million deal with a Syrian state company for the first stage of a $2 billion project to irrigate farmland in the country’s north-east, Syrian news agency SANA said in a report Tuesday.

Stroytransgaz declined to comment.

The first stage of the project will comprise the construction of a pumping station near the country’s border with Turkey and Iraq.
