Russian-Chinese trade to reach $100 billion by 2015 — official
By 2020, the level of volume of trade between Russia and China will reach $200 billion
HARBIN, July 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian-Chinese trade will reach $100 billion by 2015, Russia’s trade representative in Beijing Alexei Gruzdev told ITAR-TASS Tuesday.
“We do have the confidence we’ll fulfill the task specified for 2015, namely, to boost our trade to the level of $100 billion, and we’ll be quite successful in it,” he said.
“As for the level of $200 billion a year, this is for the long term, and that’s why we can proceed from the current forecasts and the experience that has already been accumulated, particularly in the framework of President Putin’s historic visit to Shanghai,” Gruzdev said.
“We’re looking into the future with confidence,” he said, adding that the preliminary results of the Russian-Chinese EXPO raise the assurance that the investment aspect of bilateral cooperation will get a substantial backing.
Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who made a visit to China Monday, said Russia and China might reach the volume of $200 billion in bilateral trade before 2020.
“We have a task that has been specified by the leaders of our two countries, and it is to bring our trade to the mark of $200 billion by the year 2020 but I think that if we continue moving forward at the current rate and give priority to infrastructural projects matching Russia and China’s energy, this parameter will become achievable much earlier,” he said.
