MOSCOW, June 30. /ITAR-TASS/. New clearance requirements for inbound Ukrainian animal products take effect from Monday, said Russia’s veterinary inspection service Rosselkhoznadzor, announcing measures to stop hazardous food imports crossing the border.

The agency said Ukrainian suppliers would have to provide documentary evidence that raw materials used for exported products met standards effective inside Russia and within the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Documents should be certified by a seal and a signature from Ukraine’s veterinary service.

Between June 12 and June 15, Rosselkhoznadzor specialists discovered more than 100 tonnes of counterfeit products shipped from Ukraine to Crimea. These included batches of pork, butter, seafood, ice cream, sausage and live piglets and calves.
