Russia’s Rosneft explores five fields in Barents sea

The exploration works have already started

MOSCOW, June 30. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s oil major Rosneft has started exploration of five fields in the Barents and Pechora seas, the company said in a statement on Monday.

The exploration works have started on the Zapadno-Prinovozemelsky and Perseyevsy fields in the Barents Sea and on the Yuzhno-Russky, Yuzhno-Prinovozemelsky and Zapadno-Matveyevsky fields in the Pechora Sea.

Recoverable resources of the Zapadno-Prinovozemelsky field amount to 1.434 billion tonnes of oil and gas condensate and 1.893 trillion cubic meters of gas, the Perseyevsy field’s resources amount to 85 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate and 92 billion cubic meters of gas.

The Yuzhno-Russky field’s reserves amount to 270 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate and 64.1 billion cubic meters of gas, while the reserves of the Yuzhno-Prinovozemelsky amount to 76.8 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate and 30.7 billion cubic meters of gas. The reserves of the Zapadno-Matveyevsky field stand at 97 million tonnes of oil.
