Russia’s Yota Devices may sell dongles, routers to India
MOSCOW, June 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Yota Devices, the seller of devices supporting the fourth generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, is holding talks with several Indian operators to supply Wi-Fi dongles and routers, means of protection against unsanctioned data copying, Indian daily The Economic Times reported Thursday.
Yota Devices is involved into negotiations with Reliance Jio Infocomm, Bharti Airtel and Aircel.
Pavel Zakharkin, business development director at Yota Devices, told the daily that the company’s talks with Reliance Jio, owned by India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, were at an advanced stage with Reliance Jio testing Yota’s routers and dongles for 4G on the 2300 megahertz bandwidth (TD-LTE) in the country. “We hope to close a deal with Reliance Jio for our TD-LTE devices,” Zakharkin said, adding that the company’s technical team was working with Jio on the tests of its devices on the telecom operator’s network which is yet to be launched.
Zakharkin said the company would ensure the “best pricing” in India, adding that the local market was similar to Russia’s by price sensitiveness.
Besides routers and dongles, Yota Devices also plans to launch an upgraded version of its dual screen equipped YotaPhone that it sells in developed countries.
