Russia’s VKontakte agrees to integrate app into Windows Phone

Users will be able to watch social activities of their friends directly and receive interactive updates of the chosen contacts

MOSCOW, June 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian social network VKontakte has concluded a partnership agreement with Microsoft to integrate its application into the operating system Windows Phone 8.1., according to the company’s joint press release seen by PRIME on Wednesday.

The integration of the VKontakte application into the Windows Phone platform stipulates synchronization of data at the network with a list of contacts at devices. Users will be able to watch social activities of their friends directly and receive interactive updates of the chosen contacts.

Smartphone Lumia 930, which will be launched onto the Russian market in July, will become the first device in sync with VKontakte on the Microsoft platform. A renewed application, supporting the integration with Windows Phone 8, will be available at Windows Phone Store.

VKontakte, established by Pavel Durov in 2006, is a Russian analogue to the US social network Facebook. The company’s shareholders are internet company Mail.Ru Group with 52% and investment fund United Capital Partners with 48%.
