Russia’s economic ministry against raising Gazprom tariffs

MOSCOW, June 25. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Economic Development Ministry is against raising gas giant Gazprom’s tariffs as it will boost inflation, Deputy Minister Sergei Belyakov told Rossiya 24 TV channel in an interview on Wednesday.
The suggested increase will be good for Gazprom, but for “all other companies that receive Gazprom’s services it will mean exactly the opposite — a significant burden increase,” Belyakov said.
“Moreover, it will support inflation growth. That is why we do not back the proposal,” he said.
On June 18, business daily Vedomosti reported that Gazprom has asked the government to raise its 2015 prices by 3-4% above the forecasted inflation to make local end export gas prices equal and help the company fund its investment program.
