Last December, President Vladimir Putin signed into law a bill on the liberalization of LNG exports

MOSCOW, June 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Bashneft is considering starting liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from the Trebs and Titov fields, Oleg Mikhailov, vice-president for oil and gas development, said Monday at an oil and gas conference.

“We’re eyeing liquefied natural gas exports and export pipelines,” Mikhailov said.

Last December, President Vladimir Putin signed into law a bill on the liberalization of LNG exports, under which gas giant Gazprom will keep a monopoly on only pipeline exports.

The law allows companies in which the government owns more than 50% and which work offshore or companies with a license for the LNG plant construction to export gas.

Bashneft is a private company with a 73% stake held by multi-purpose corporation AFK Sistema.
