Russia’s Uralkali in talks to restart coop with Belarus

MOSCOW, June 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s fertilizer producer Uralkali has started preliminary negotiations with Belarus to restore cooperation, CEO Dmitry Osipov said in an interview with Bloomberg on Tuesday.

In April, Dmitry Mazepin, who owns a 20% stake in Uralkali, met Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Osipov said. Osipov also said that he personally has not had any negotiations with Minsk.

In 2013, Uralkali accused Belarusian producer Belaruskali of undermining sales of their joint venture Belarusian Potash Company. The conflict resulted in a political clash with an active involvement of Alexander Lukashenko, who demanded a criminal pursuit of managers and owners of the Russian producer.
