Luhansk-based company suspends production as fighting continues

KIEV, June 04./ITAR-TASS/. Luhanskteplovoz, a locomotive-making company has suspended operation due to on-going fighting in the city, the company's press service said on Wednesday.

"Engineers and technicians are now on paid holiday because of the dangerous situation in the city. The first shifts that assemble locomotives continue to work, but the second and third shift workers have been laid off," it said. The current production targets have been cancelled.

Luhanskteplovoz producers mainline locomotives, diesel trains, AC and DC electric trains, railway cars and equipment for commuter trains and trams as well as mining equipment. Russia's Bryansk-based machine building plant owns 76% of Luhanskteplovoz shares.
