More than 250 new hydrocarbon deposits discovered in Russia in 2009-2013
MOSCOW, May 28. /ITAR-TASS/. The hike in the public and private investments in the sector made it possible to discover more than 250 new hydrocarbon-bearing fields in the period from 2009 through 2013, Russia’s Natural Resource Minister Sergei Donskoy noted in his his address to the Federation Council.
Among these fields are large, symbolically named, oil field Velikoye (the Great) with recoverable C1 & C2 reserves of about 300 million tons of oil. This is the largest onshore-discovered field over recent 13 years, which may be comparable with the Vankor deposit discovered in 1991.
Moreover, such big oil fields located in the Irkutsk region as the Savostyanov (160.2 million tons of reserves), the Lisovsky (Preobrazhenskoye) (113.5 million tons), and Sanarskoye (94.6 million tons), as well as Baikalovskoye (51.9 million tons) in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Koltogorskoye (35.5 million tons) in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area were also recognized as the territories of state importance.
As for the natural gas, the minister in his report mentioned the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field in the Sea of Okhotsk with 259.9 billion cubic meters of reserves, the Yamalo-Nenets-area-based fields of Severo-Russkoye (49.0 billion cubic meters) and Yuzhno-Kypakanskoye (43.9 billion cubic meters), as well as the Abakanskoye field (31.9 billion cubic meters) in the Krasnoyarsk territory.
