KIEV, May 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Business tycoon Petro Poroshenko, who currently leads the presidential race in Ukraine according to exit polls, has confirmed on Monday his plans to sell his assets once in office.

“We need to embed a new tradition: when a person is elected to a higher post, he or she should make a bold step — sell the business and focus on the civil service,” Poroshenko told a news conference. Poroshenko added he was working with an administrative consultant and started preparing to sell his assets on Monday.

Poroshenko added that his priority as president of Ukraine would be European integration.

“Eurointegration will be the priority of my policy,” he said. “Before the inauguration, several meetings at the highest level will take place.”

The politician noted that he would draw special attention to combating corruption in Ukraine and developing plans of upgrading the country.
