SHANGHAI, May 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s oil major Rosneft hopes for getting access to the Power of Siberia pipeline, if a decision is made to increase its throughput, Rosneft President Igor Sechin told the media on Tuesday.

“We have presented our forecasts for Rosneft’s extraction in East Siberia and the Far East to the Energy Ministry. If they are taken into account in building up Power of Siberia’s throughput, we may thank the Lord. Transportation is everybody’s concern,” Sechin said.

Gazprom, which is laying the pipeline, plans to commission eight compressors in 2018-2020. The Power of Siberia pipeline with a throughput of 61 billion cubic meters a year will be transporting gas from the Kovykta and Chayandinskoye fields, as well as deposits being developed by independent gas producers (25 billion cubic meters a year) on either side of the pipeline.

Power of Siberia will become a common gas transportation system for the Irkutsk and Yakutsk gas production centres. It will be delivering gas through Khabarovsk to Vladivostok.

A source told ITAR-TASS earlier, Rosneft is going to provide up to 18 billion cubic meters of gas a year for transportation the Power of Siberia pipeline.
