Gazprom, Naftogaz discuss repayment of debts for Russian gas
According to Gazprom, key focus was made on the necessity of Ukraine’s repaying debts for gas supplied in 2013 and 2014
MOSCOW, May 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s gas giant Gazprom and Ukraine’s Naftogaz have discussed the problem of repayment of Ukraine’s debts for Russian gas, Gazprom said in a release after a meeting between the CEOs of the two companies, Alexei Miller of Gazprom and Andrei Kobolev of Naftogaz, in Amsterdam on Friday.
According to Gazprom, key focus was made on the necessity of Ukraine’s repaying debts for gas supplied in 2013 and 2014. No further details of the meeting are available.
With account of gas supplies in March and April, which have not yet been paid for, Ukraine’s overall gas debt stands at $3.508 billion. In view of this fact and in line with the current contract, Gazprom said it would start supplying gas to Ukraine against advance payments from June.
