MOSCOW, April 24. /ITAR-TASS/. Supplies of Russian natural gas to Slovakia and transit via the country proceed stably in line with long-term contracts between Gazprom Export, SPP and Eustream, the press service of the Russian Energy Ministry reported on Thursday.

“The sides welcome continuous strategic partnership on reliable and safe supplies of Russian natural gas to the Slovak Republic on market conditions within the framework of a long-term contract,” it told ITAR-TASS after a session of the Russian-Slovak intergovernmental commission.

“Slovakia jointly with Eustream, which operates the gas pipeline network, confirms its interest in negotiations on possible projects for gas transportation for safer natural gas deliveries for the Slovak Republic and other European states,” the report said.

ITAR-TASS reported early in April referring to the Slovak gas company Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP) that Slovakia would be looking for alternative ways of Russian gas deliveries in case of force majeure with the transit via Ukraine.

“We are closely watching the situation. Continuous and safe supplies of gas for our consumers are our main task,” the press service of SPP, importer of gas to Slovakia, said. “In case of extraordinary developments, we will be able to use gas from underground storage facilities situated in Slovakia. Potential use of infrastructure will depend on business negotiations,” it said.

Late in March, SPP agreed with Gazprom Export on the reduction of gas price.
