Gazprom does not plan discussion of discounted gas price for Turkey
Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz announced Turkey wanted to discuss with Gazprom possible discounts for the current gas price
MOSCOW, April 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s gas monopoly Gazprom will not discuss the gas price issue during the visit of its deputy head Alexander Medvedev to Turkey, a source in the company said.
The source said the agenda would be devoted to the global cooperation in the gas sphere.
“We have not drafted any documents on prices,” the source said.
During the meeting, the sides may discuss also possible development of the South Stream project, crossing Turkey’s territory.
On Friday, Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz announced Turkey wanted to discuss with Gazprom possible discounts for the current gas price.
“The agreement, we signed with the Russian side, offers to us a right to request revision of gas prices. We shall pass the request to Gazprom’s representatives,” he said adding Russia was Turkey’s biggest gas supplier.
Turkey is the second biggest importer of the Russian gas after Germany. In 2013, Russia supplied to Turkey 26.61 billion cubic metres.
