Kristian Vigenin says Bulgaria cannot be hostage to economic, political and financial stability of transit countries
SOFIA, April 17. /ITAR-TASS/. The situation in Ukraine that may lead to the disruption of Russian natural gas transit through the country, really proves the need to implement the South Stream gas pipeline project, believes Bulgarian Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin.
Answering reporters’ questions in Varna on Thursday, the minister stressed that it is important for European citizens, including Bulgarians, to have guarantees of gas supply security.
“We cannot be hostages to economic, political and financial stability of transit countries. We want Ukraine to be a stable and secure state, but see what is happening there and believe that this instability will last long,” Vigenin said.
