MOSCOW, April 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s overall debt to Russia after the termination of the 1997 and 2010 Black Sea Fleet agreements stands at $10-11 billion, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said at a meeting of the Federation Council on Tuesday.

“As Russia quits the Black Sea Fleet agreements, Ukraine’s overall debt to Russia will reach $10-11 billion,” he said.

“From 1997 until March 18, 2014, Russia has written off 97.95 million rubles of Ukraine’s overall state debt every year. This sum should be written off completely by 2017,” Karasin said, adding that “the treaties concluded in the city of Kharkiv (eastern Ukraine) have extended the Black Sea Fleet agreement until 2042. We proceeded from this before tragic events.”

Karasin said that under the Kharkiv deals, Russia should have made a gas price discount of $100 per 1,000 cubic metres.
